Ledger Recover
Bitcoin Inheritance
Ledger Recover is an optional paid subscription service from Ledger that allows users to back up their hardware wallet seed phrase using Shamir Secret Sharing. The encrypted seed is split into three shards distributed across three independent custodians — Coincover, EscrowTech, and Ledger — requiring identity verification to recombine. In the event of device loss or death, heirs or the account holder can restore the seed phrase by completing an identity check, making it a cloud-assisted inheritance and recovery solution.
