Gregory Maxwell (known online as gmaxwell) is one of the most technically accomplished Bitcoin developers in history. A former Wikipedia contributor and longtime open-source developer, Maxwell joined Bitcoin development in 2011 and made foundational contributions including Confidential Transactions, the Borromean ring signature scheme, and significant work on SegWit and Taproot.
